Cough, cough! Ah Choo!

I got under the weather recently. First it was the fever and slight runny nose on sat, now is the flu and cough. I didn't recover fully after the dose of panadol and i have been sneezing and coughing since. Mummy noticed that i've got phlegm in my cough and whisked me to see the physician at Eu Yan Sang today. Daddy and mummy were contemplating whether to see the GP or TCM and they decided on the latter as TCM seems less harsh on me. There wasn't any patients when we reached the clinic and i got to see the chinese physician very soon. I behaved well and let the physician take my temperature and listened to my chest/lungs. I was having fun in the clinic as this was my first visitand the physician looked so interesting with his face mask on. Daddy and mummy were equally surprised to see me in such high spirits despite me being unwell. They were amused to see me touching and grabbing stuffs laid out on the physician's table and kicking my legs away. I got to take the medicine twice a day, i hope the medicine isn't too bitter for me. Hope i will get well soon cos i really hate coughing.

Apple Puree - The recipe

Mummy made me apple puree today! It's something new besides my usual rice cereal and brown rice cereal. Mummy wanted to get the normal red apples but daddy decided to get me organic apples instead. However when mummy fed me the apple puree, my face scrunched up cos the puree is a bit sourish for me. The organic apples don't taste too great after all. Mummy should get sweeter apples to make puree for me next time.

Recipe for Apple Puree
1) Wash, peel and core apples. Slice apples.
2) Use medium saucepan and throw in sliced apple and 3-5 tablespoons of water.
3) Put it on stove and leave it at low heat. Check constantly to see if more water is needed or if they are cooked.
4) Remove from saucepan and mashed the cooked apples using blender or masher.
5) Apple puree is ready for feeding.

Running a temperature

Yesterday was Popo's birthday and we went slightly earlier to shop around at Liang Court before proceeding to dinner at Novotel Hotel's Dragon phoenix restaurant. I wasn't feeling too well as i've got a cold and slight fever. I was feeling sleepy the whole day and had to take several naps. However my spirit was still high and will still smile and laugh when amused. Dinner was sumptuous and i see mummy eating happily away and so were the rest of the family. (Popo, all ah yis, yi zhangs, caris & chloe) It's a 9 course dinner and comes with shark fin, abalone, prawns, fish, chicken, etc. I can only sit on mummy's lap and watched silently as she was feasting away. When we were back home, mummy measured my temperature and it was 38.4 degrees celsius. She gave me some medicine and sponged me frequently to bring down my temperature. Luckily i recovered very quickly and the fever subsided after 2 hours.

A Good Deed

Last night upon reaching our house car park, we came across two stray kittens hiding under a car. They keep "meowing" and look really pathetic. Mummy thought they should be very hungry and decided to donate some of my milk to them. They were frightened and hid under the car when we got closer to them. As mummy couldn't reach them, she poured some milk on the pavement and walked further away to make them come out of their hiding. Then daddy realised that their mummy was actually standing next to the lift landing and eyeballing at mummy wondering what she's doing. Anyway we were glad the kittens did drink the milk else they gonna go hungry. Mummy then tell daddy and me that we must do good deeds whenever possible and we will get good Karma.

My new bumper mat

When i woke up this morning, mummy showed me to my new bumper mat. It was delivered to our house this morning at 9plus. Mummy was more excited to use the mat than me. She used water and dettol to clean up the mat and laid it nicely in the living room while waiting patiently for me to wake up from my beauty sleep. The mat has nice pictures of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Mummy only allow me to play on it for a short while as the mat still has the rubber smell and she's afraid that it's not good for me. Mummy needs to clean it repeatedly and the smell should go away gradually. After my bath, lunch and another 30 mins nap, mummy bought me out shopping at Causeway Point. She went to Kiddy Palace to buy me another feeding bowl, clothes hangers and a teether. We shopped for a while and went over to Ting Ah Yi's house to play with Ernest. I fell asleep when we were reaching and Ernest also happened to take his nap. When Ernest woke up we played a while. I love the company of friends around my age. It makes me really excited and happy. Then we moved on to Hua Ah Yi's house and mummy had dinner there. While mummy was having dinner, Hua Ah Yi carried me to find Shawn and Celis living a storey up. More friends to play with. *HAPPY*and daddy picked us up after his RT session.

Activities over the weekend

Auntie Sharon came to visit mummy and me on saturday. I had so much fun with her as she made me laughed and giggled. In the evening, Auntie Sharon drove us to SSC and we had dinner at MOF. Daddy joined us slightly later as he has to attend his RT at Khatib Camp till 6plus . The menu at MOF was so attractive, it's so colourful and i can't resist snatching it from mummy's hands.
Sunday was Grandma's birthday. We had lunch at Dian Xiao Er at Causeway Point. Guess what? They are currently having a promotion which entitles the diner a 20% discount if he/she 1) is a student 2) is a senior citizen aged 62 and beyond 3) is a baby. That's really an interesting promotion. The waitress gave me a high chair to sit in during the lunch and this is the first time that i'm siting together with the rest of my family during meals. However as i'm still small, i kept sliding down the chair. In the end, mummy carried me on her laps instead while enjoying her lunch. After lunch we proceeded to grandma's house to cut cake. Uncle Wenxian (Gu Gu's Boyfriend) bought Grandma a strawberry birthday cake. I went home shortly after to have a quick nap as i'll be visiting my Po Po's place in the evening.
There are lots of toys to play at Po Po's place and Caris and Chloe like to play with me. I had a lot of fun at Po Po's house. The Indian auntie living next door saw me and was very happy to carry me. She loves baby girls as she has 2 boys herself. It was actually Calix's birthday and they were having a birthday celebration.
Today i went to TMC with Mummy and grandma for my 6 mths jab. (Hep B) I weighed 7.82Kg and is 66cm tall now. The doctor is happy with my growth so far. Dr Ong coughed while examining me halfway, i laughed at him as i thought he was playing with me. Daddy used to fake coughing sounds to make me laugh. As Dr Ong administers the jab, i didn't cry at all. Dr Ong told mummy that the jab was "no sweat" to me at all. Hehe.. what do you think those thunder thighs i have are for? There are so many babies at the clinic and i was so excited that i kept kicking my hands and legs. I even befriended a couple of them. There a kor kor who is 2 days older than me and he already has 2 nice teeth on his lower jaw. Kor Kor's grandma said i should be growing mine soon as i kept chewing and biting on my fingers. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed that my teeth will erupt naturally with minimum discomfort just like kor kor's.

My First Taste of Rice Cereal

Yippee! I finally got my first taste of semi solids today. After hearing grandma complained about my less "solid" thighs, mummy relented and gave me Bellamy Rice Cereal today. She insisted on introducing me cereal only when i turned 6 mths in accordance to books she read. Actually grandma has been hinting to her to start when i was 5mths old but she was adamant in her refusal to change her mind. Now i'm only 1 day shy of 6 months, mummy decided to give in. Mummy has bought a box of Bellamy rice cereal and also ordered brown rice cereal from Healthy Times and Happy Bellies. She wanted to start me on brown rice cereal but the orders are not in yet. By the way, all the cereal she purchased are all organic products. Ain't i a fortunate baby? I was a little surprised with the new taste but i took it quite well. My face didn't cringe up as anticipated by mummy. Instead i was so eager to take mouthfuls and mouthfuls of it. I was kicking my legs and waving my hands in excitment. I was so happy and i fussed when mummy was slow in feeding me. From tomorrow onwards, grandma will include a feed of rice cereal daily as instructed by mummy. I'm so looking forward to tomorrow and the days to come!

Expanding Waistlines

Look at what mummy did with her motherhood forum friends when they were pregnant at that time. They did a collage on their expanding tummies. No prize for guessing right which tummy i'm hiding in!

Old Wives Tale

Recently i have mastered the art of body contortion, i can bend my legs so well that i can suck on my toes. Mummy was certainly impressed by my new act and excitedly screamed for daddy to witness it. However there's an old wives tale that if a baby starts to suckle on their toes, the mum will soon be pregnant again with another didi or meimei. I don't think mummy is ready for another baby yet athough she truly enjoyed the entire pregnancy while preggers with me. Grandma did asked me if i wanted another didi or meimei but for now i guess i would love to have all of mummy and daddy's attention. Recently i have been a little naughty as i am not interested in my milk. Grandma has to feed me a bottle of 125ml breastmilk over at least 2-3 sessions and i will still have about 30ml left. This got grandma a bit worried and she commented to mummy that my thighs are not as firm as before. I guess i am ready to start on my semi solids. "Mummy, brown rice cereal, rice cereal and fruit purees please!" drooling *wink*

Shopping at Suntec

Daddy drove mummy and me to Suntec City yesterday as he wanted to go shopping for a new pair of shoes. Mummy was elated at the idea of shopping though she jolly well knew that with me around, she won't be able to "really shop". The mall was not very crowded so it makes shopping with stroller in tow a better experience. We also hopped over to Marina Square to shop. Halfway through the trip i was getting cranky and wanted to be carried. I refused to sit in my stroller and mummy got to carry me. What mummy didn't know was that i was trying to sleep and i enjoy being in mummy's arms as it helps me sleep better. Once back in daddy's car, i fell asleep almost immediately and slept all the way home...

Buming in my Bumbo

*Yawn* Here i am, sitting on my Bumbo idling the day away. I don't want to bum around the house all day. The Easter holiday got off on a bad start yesterday as it was raining heavily the whole afternoon. I only managed to hang out a while at northpoint for a late lunch with mummy and daddy. For the rest of the day i was snoozing away. I thought today could be better but it's now 12 in the afternoon and i'm trapped in my bumbo and relating my feelings to mummy while she is helping me to blog. Daddy is still sleeping happily. Actually i got up quite early today and woke them up earlier than usual. Hmmm... what are the events lined up today?

Daddy's Day Off

Daddy had a day off yesterday and he drove mummy and me to Causeway point for lunch. Mummy arranged to meet my cousin Dawn to do lunch together also and we decided to lunch at Pizza Hut. After lunch, we drove Dawn back home and also to pop by their houses to visit baby Ernest. (4 units in the same block but different storey) Mummy was excited to see baby Ernest for he is a huge baby. He weighed a hefty 3.8kg at birth and was already 10kg at 5 months when we visited him during Chinese New Year. Mummy's arms ached after carrying him for 5 mins. Baby Ernest is older than me by 2 months but speaking of generation, i'm bigger thus Ernest got to address me as "Gu Gu". So funny right? Ernest's daddy called mummy "Ah Yi". It's getting quite confusing about addressing one another the proper way, i'm lost. So is mummy.... Can we make things simple by just calling one another by names??!!! In the evening, we dined out at Aston at SCC. I love to be pushed around in my stroller. I got very excited as there are so many things to see. I was smiling and coo-ing... yippee what a happy day!
