To the dentist.

I went to the dentist yesterday, it is my 2nd time to see a dentist. The first time mummy brought to the dental specialists at Mt E. The dentist took time to tell me stories about Barney going to the dentist but halfway through the story, I started crying. I am really scare as I did not feel good on the seat. I kept crying for mummy and couldn't be coaxed into stopping my tears. Mummy has no choice but to carry me on her lap and we both sat on the dentist seat. Then they played some princess cartoon to calm me down but it didnt help. It took quite a while before I finally calm down and the dentist showed me pictures of white princess teeth and rotten black teeth. She told me about the sugar bugs feasting on the milk remains on my teeth if I still continue drinking milk from my bottle. The end results will be black teeth. She also told me I must throw my bottle away and drink from a cup and brush my teeth before going to bed. The dentist managed to count my teeth and did a check and clean my teeth with strawberry toothpaste. She rewarded me with 2 princess stickers. Mummy was told that I have 4 cavities and scheduled us for another appointment 2 weeks later. However the charges at the specialist clinic is very expensive and mummy decided to bring me to another dentist. On my 2nd visit, we went to Smileworks at Paragon. Dr Berenice is a very pretty doctor and I like her. She is very gentle and she talks to me and made me very comfortable. I am very cooperative and followed her instructions. This time I did not cry as I am much more prepared. Dr Berenice checked my teeth and confirmed 4 cavities. She did 2 fillings for me and cleaned my teeth. She shared with me what are the things she will do and allowed me to play with the equipments that she works with. In no time, my teeth were done and I am scheduled to see her next week! Yippee, I am starting to like going to the dentist.

It's jab time!

I have been very afraid of needles and I have been delaying in getting my vaccinations. Mummy's attempts to bring me to the doctor to get me vaccinated were quite futile. After much persuasion from daddy I managed to give him a little nod to get myself a baby jab but on the day of the jab, I got sick and had to postpone my jab. Then Reanne went ahead with her scheduled vaccination and I was watching the whole process and this got me so frightened that I swore off jabs in future. Reanne was crying and I guess it must be really painful. So you guess right, it's another long n arduous journey in persuading me to go to the doc for my much overdue pneumomcoccal jab. Most of the children would have gotten their pneumococcal jab around the time they get into child care centers at 18months or 24 months. This time Reanne was due to go for her vaccination and again mummy tried to convince me. This time, she told me I need to take my jab as we will be flying to Thailand for holidays in August. With the jab, both mei mei and me will be very healthy and strong when we take the aeroplane. It's sounds pretty reasonable to me and I decided to go for it. At the clinic I was getting a bit uneasy. It didn't help at all when I hear a lot of kids crying in the clinic. I don't know why they are crying but it definitely didnt make me comfortable at all. I remained calm and when I got into the doc's room, I am very quiet. Dr Foo talked to me and tried to make me comfortable. I decided to take the jab before mei mei so I can show her what a brave girl I aam. Daddy and a nurse held me down on the doctor's table and very quickly the jab was administered. I didn't cry at all and it isn't painful. That's what I told daddy and mummy. They were both very proud of me.

Diaper Free

Rachelle decided to try going diaper free last night and i must say it was really successful. She didn't pee in her bed. I constantly reminded her that she is off diaper and she will have to wake me up to bring her to the potty should she feel an urge to pee.
Before her bedtime, i kept reminding her and i guess that really works. Just after midnight she woke me up to say she need to pee and i helped her to the potty. Then she woke up around 4ish for a feed and she slept all the way till 8am. All this time she has managed to stay dry. I am really proud of her. Besides that, except for a vomiting episode around midnight, she didn't really whine during the night. My prayers must have been answered. I finally got a much needed restful sleep last night.
I hope she continues to perform well tonight. Fingers and toes crossed. : )

Sleepless Nights

Nights has become so torturous recently. I dreaded going to bed once again. The last time i felt this way was when Rachelle was about 2-3 months old. Rachelle has all along been a bad sleeper but the past night on 20/2/12, it was one of the worst to date.
It didn't help that she has the cough bug at the same time. I hate her having a cough as she tends to throw up after coughing especially after her meals or milk feed. Since young, she has the tendency to throw up after a crying episode or after coughing. She got so whiny at night and cries so readily. Her crying and constant whining were driving me up the wall and i couldn't sleep at all as i was practically up by her side every hour tending to her every complaints. If i were to ignore her, she will cry even louder and as a result of that i will have to change her clothes or bedsheets as she is sure to vomit. Recently her eczema is also flaring up. She wakes up complaining of itchiness and was scratching all over. The skin on her neck, elbows and behind the knees were extremely dry and patchy. I am asking friends for recommendations to a good dermatologist for children.
I really pray hard that Rachelle will outgrow this whiny stage esp during the night so all of us in the family including herself can have a good night rest. Lack of sleep is definitely not good for all of us. She gets very emotional with lack of rest. Pray hard for me, my friends.
